FUNDING RESTRICTIONS

The City of Williamsport Cultural Grant will NOT fund the following:

      • Capital expenditures, including operating equipment costing $500 or more.
         
      • Activities for which academic credit is given
         
      • Activities that have a religious purpose
         
      • Performances and exhibitions not available to the general public
         
      • Activities that have already been completed
         
      • Prizes and awards
         
      • Benefit activities.
         
      • Hospitality expenses, i.e., receptions, parties, gallery openings
         
      • Lobbyists payments
         
      • Competitions
  CRITERIA FOR FUNDING

A Re-grant panel will evaluate the applications and make funding decisions based upon the following weighted criteria:

  • Artistic merit and purpose of the project - The project should be of high quality and should not involve or address other agendas beyond the promotion of community arts and cultural opportunities (e.g., it should not involve the furtherance of political, religious, social or ethnic causes).

  • Community support - Funded projects should demonstrate quality educational and cultural value for the entire community and be advertised and accessible to the entire community (including individuals with disabilities.) Letters of support should be included.
     
  • Project Description - The project description should include the goals or mission of the project, be well-planned and clearly articulated.

  • Administrative Capacity - The organization must demonstrate an existing administrative structure and fiscal responsibility, a reasonable and well-articulated project budget and other available sources of income to fund the project.
